Great food, personal service. Small place so customers need to be patient to get your food. Everything tastes good that is on their menu

Such good food. Came here on a quiet off day (Monday) and came in right as they opened with no wait. It's a family owned little place so it's very quaint and quiet in there which I loved. Had the Tonkotsu Ramen and a platter of sushi all which was incredibly tasty. :) I'd recommend this place for sure!

Really nice ramen for dinner - tonkotsu flavor - creamy broth - my dad had tuna sashimi and brother and mom had sushi - a nice dinner on holiday - price was ok - found in a shopping plaza near a Grocery store -

This place is tucked away in the one food lion shopping center that doesn't have a Chinese take out spot but instead one of the most incredible unassuming Japanese restaurants in this area. It does get busy and forget calling. They won't pick up. It's busy. If you want to come eat at a normal time come early. Otherwise we came later in the evening and waited less than 10 minutes. I'm just gonna talk food. We got a few apps Pork Shumai Vegetable tempura Miso soup Sapporo Coke The apps were solid and the pork was juicy throughout. My only knock being a spicy food lover is they don't have a chili oil but this is Japanese food. Otherwise the chili oil and chili flakes that came with it did the trick. It did come with Japanese mayo which was an interesting touch but delicious to add to the bite. Tempura was fried perfectly and even withstood a dunk in the beef and tofu broth which made it taste sooooooooo good. I'll get to that dish later. Entrees. My party ordered a few tonkatsu pork ramens, a miso pork ramen, a few pork / chicken katsu curries, and finally I ordered the beef and tofu with a side of rice. First the ramens. You gotta start with a broth taste. And it's solid. It's rich. Flavorful. Right notes of umami, salty, savory goodness. I didn't find it overly powerful when trying from another's bowl. Otherwise everyone loved these dishes. The katsu curries were delicious. Fried perfectly. Curry was made to be spiced perfectly, with notes of sweetness and was paired with some pickled radish. All together this just worked and it is hearty! Expect a ton of curry and rice. The protein portion is just enough imo. They do a good job here especially if you're craving it. Wish they had whole veggies in the curry though, my only small critique. The beef and tofu. Oh my god. This broth was heavenly. So rich. Fatty. Beefy. But balanced with some vegetables, wood ear mushrooms, ultra soft tofu, and shitaki mushrooms. The thin onions were so delicious. Once again, I wish they had a chili oil but I thought about it mid meal after my friend tried my broth and realized its perfection. Seriously. This is the item to get. Also ps. I realized I should've ordered the soba on the side with this dish, probably would've been really good with it. Service. Great. The waitress and staff in general were friendly and were very quick to answer our questions and help us with our order. Def come on by.

After all these years, Masashi is still one of the best Japanese restaurants in Charlotte. If you do come here for lunch on the weekends make sure you are in line before it opens. The food is continue to be excellent and cooked by the Japanese chef. I love their Katsu Jyu and all their bento boxes. Lunch always reasonable price. As they got busier over the last few years, the restaurant seems small, but I don't mind waiting for good food.

The food here is good. It was my first time trying it and it was pretty delicious. I wished they had more items on the menu. The lunch was good. I like how they have lunch options. Service is nice. Staff is attentive. The ambiance is good. Just a small restaurant. Nothing bad about this place. I would come here again.

Visit on a Saturday at 5:45pm. Yet they're open at 5:30pm. This place is already packed. It's a very small place. However, the authenticity is some of the best around. Sushi are good quality, they keep close to their roots. Not trying to cater to the American audience. And I can't tell you how much I appreciated that.. We ordered soo much from the menu. Ramen, sushi, edamame, grilled skinny mackerel, calamari, udon soup. And I can't tell you there wasn't a dish I didn't like. All the wait staffs take turns caring for you. And they're attentive. My water were never empty, my dirty plates are promptly taken away. They're very knowledgeable with the dishes but English is not their short point. Setting is small but intimate. Almost cozy in a way. Nothing fancy. There's also a room kinda close off that you can down traditionally. Shoes off please. For Charlotte. This is a nice additional. They're not catering to crowd that want to be with the trends. Their visitors truly love what they have to offer and the authenticity of it all. I'm a fan now.

This is a family owned authentic Japanese restaurant that I have been going to for the last 20 years and is a favorite among Japanese in the area. It is not a trendy Sushi restaurant like Baku and others in South End or South Park that are catered toward people who prefer more Americanized Sushi experience. I come here when I want comfort food experience and I can order items like fried smelts that would not be on other Japanese restaurants menu. The Chef knows that I will eat anything he put in my Chirashi so he always add something new for me to try. Once in a while he will also treat me with Uni in my Chirashi which I would never get at other Japanese restaurants.
